Welcome!

"Promoting engaged, experiential learning in students by knitting together resources, people, and ideas through innovative curricular design, strategic use of technology, and sensitive, holistic professional development".

This is how a dear colleague has recently described my work.

My philosophy for teaching a new language is based on a strong belief that knowledge of foreign languages is an essential component of global education which allows students to effectively connect with different cultures. It opens a student’s mind to different ways of thinking, and creates a society in which diversity and differences are understood and respected…

Whether I am teaching language, literature, or film, I like to structure my class so that students are in charge of their own learning process and take full responsibility for it…The courses I design and teach are based on the idea of mapping and bridging different disciplines and approaches, making language and culture a meaningful and stimulating experience.

My vision of student assessment is a very holistic one. I like to think that in delivering tests and quizzes I am not just assessing each single student’s learning but the entire teaching-learning effectiveness…Periodically, I also ask students to self evaluate their learning through journals or other tools. I strive to make the assessment a valuable and positive ongoing experience for my students.
